Marketplace Connections

Instica connects to your selling accounts on eBay, Discogs, Etsy, and Shopify — letting you list, sync inventory, and track orders from a single app.

Supported platforms

Instica supports direct API connections with the following selling platforms:

Print-on-demand platforms (Redbubble, TeePublic, Society6) are supported through the Instica browser extension for Chrome and Edge, not through the iOS app directly.

Connecting a marketplace

All marketplace connections use OAuth — you sign in to your marketplace account directly and grant Instica permission to access your data. Instica never sees or stores your marketplace password.

General steps

  1. Open the Instica app and go to More → Marketplace Connections.
  2. Tap Connect next to the platform you want to add.
  3. A browser window opens showing the marketplace's login page.
  4. Sign in to your marketplace account.
  5. Review and approve the permissions Instica is requesting.
  6. You're redirected back to the app — the connection is now active.

eBay setup

eBay is the most commonly used marketplace with Instica. After connecting:

  • Import — Your active eBay listings are imported as inventory items with photos, prices, condition, and descriptions preserved.
  • Address sync — You can pull your eBay shipping address into Instica automatically during onboarding.
  • Order sync — When items sell on eBay, order details (buyer, price, fees) sync into your Sales tab.
  • Listing sync — List and delist items from within Instica, and changes are reflected on your eBay store.

Note: eBay OAuth tokens can expire. If your eBay connection stops working, disconnect and reconnect from Marketplace Connections. This refreshes the token without losing your data.

Discogs setup

Discogs is widely used by music sellers for vinyl, CD, and cassette sales. After connecting:

  • Marketplace import — Your Discogs inventory is imported with release data (artist, label, catalog number, year, format).
  • Discogs search — Search the Discogs release database when cataloging new items to auto-fill product details.
  • Listing — List items directly on your Discogs seller page from the app.
  • Order sync — Discogs orders appear in your Sales tab.

Etsy setup

Etsy is ideal for vintage items and unique collectibles. After connecting:

  • Import your existing Etsy listings as inventory items.
  • List items on your Etsy shop from within Instica.
  • Orders sync automatically to your Sales tab.

Shopify setup

Connect your Shopify store for direct-to-consumer sales. After connecting:

  • Import products from your Shopify store.
  • Sync inventory quantities between Instica and Shopify.
  • Shopify orders appear in your Sales tab.

Importing inventory

After connecting a marketplace, you can import your existing listings:

  1. Go to More → Marketplace Connections.
  2. Tap the connected marketplace.
  3. Tap Import.
  4. The import starts and runs in the background. You'll see progress showing items processed.

Handling import conflicts

If an imported item matches an existing product in your catalog (e.g., same catalog number or UPC), you'll be prompted to resolve the conflict:

  • Merge — Add the imported item as a new inventory item under the existing product.
  • Skip — Don't import this item.
  • Create new — Create a separate product record.

You can also skip all conflicts at once to import only non-conflicting items now and deal with conflicts later.

Disconnecting a marketplace

To disconnect a marketplace account:

  1. Go to More → Marketplace Connections.
  2. Tap the connected marketplace.
  3. Tap Disconnect.
  4. Confirm the disconnection.

Important: Disconnecting a marketplace does not remove your imported inventory or delete existing listings. It only removes Instica's ability to sync with that platform. Any active listings will remain on the marketplace until they expire or you remove them manually.

Connection issues

Connection won't complete

  • Check your internet connection and try again.
  • Make sure you're approving all requested permissions on the marketplace's authorization page.
  • If the browser window closes without redirecting back to the app, restart the connection process.

Connection stopped working

  • Marketplace OAuth tokens can expire. Disconnect and reconnect to refresh.
  • Check that your marketplace account is still active and in good standing.
  • If you changed your marketplace password, you may need to reconnect.

Import stuck or showing errors

  • Large inventories take time — check back periodically for progress updates.
  • If individual items fail to import, you can retry failed items from the import progress screen.
  • Items with incomplete data on the marketplace side (e.g., missing titles) may fail to import.
